Community Resources

The following resources are not produced nor written by Network for Family Recovery, but may provide assistance in dealing with challenges and issues while your loved one is in treatment, or when your loved one completes inpatient treatment for addictions. The purpose for providing these additional resources is to foster awareness of community-based services and programs that are available to provide help and offer adjunct support.

The NIDA provides information for the prevention and treatment of drug addiction and abuse.

National Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse (Columbia University )(CASA)

The mission of CASA is to inform Americans of the economic and social costs of substance abuse and its impact on their lives; to assess what works in prevention; treatment, and law enforcement; to encourage every individual and institution to take responsibility to combat substance abuse and addiction; to provide those on the front lines with the tools they need to succeed; and to remove the stigma of abuse and replace shame and despair with hope.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Codependents Anonymous (C.O.D.A.)

Codependents Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and recover from dysfunctional relationships. As with other 12 step programs, there are no dues or fees for CODA membership, and they are not allied with any other sect, institution or organization. The only requirement of CODA membership is a desire to develop a healthy and loving relationship.

Twelve Step Programs are a powerful tool for those struggling with substance abuse. There are hundreds of listings for Alcoholics Anonymous® meetings, Narcotics Anonymous® meetings as well as Al-Anon®, Naranon, CoDa and many other 12 Step fellowships.
